Medicine is the art and science of healing. It encompasses a range of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.

Contemporary medicine applies health science, biomedical research, and medical technology to diagnose and treat injury and disease, typically through medication, surgery, or some other form of therapy. The word medicine is derived from the Latin ars medicina, meaning the art of healing.

Though medical technology and clinical expertise are pivotal to contemporary medicine, successful face-to-face relief of actual suffering continues to require the application of ordinary human feeling and compassion, known in English as bedside manner.

How badly will socialized medicine hurt the medical salaries?
Q. I am thinking of studying to become an anesthesiologiest, but with the possiblility of socialized medicine and healthcare...Will they still make the LARGE salaries that they do today? Im not just in it for the money, but im also not down for 12 years of training for a much lower pay. Any thoughts>?

Average 3 bdrm 2 bath 1 living detached home $150,000. Incidentally a Big Mac also cost almost double the cost in the UK. So under socialized medicine an anesthesiologist makes about $118,000 less a year, their house cost $262,000 more and they pay double the price for food. Utilities are also much higher. That would… [cont.]
