From Google News Search: "medication" How long would medication have to be for someone who has schizoaffective disorder? Q. I have been under medication for almost 3 years now and my psychiatrist says that I would have to take it on a long-term basis. Meanwhile, I attended this seminar where the speaker said medication would be life-time. So, which is really true? Also, how come the medication for bipolar disorder the same as that of schizoaffective disorder? How are these illnesses different from each other? Asked by atvsamala - Fri Jul 10 09:41:20 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Schizoaffective Disorder has two subcategory types, bipolar and depressive. From what I can tell from on-line reading, Bipolar Disorder seems to have a more organized set of symptoms. If you suffer from Bipolar Disorder you would also suffer from a Schizoaffective Disorder because Bipolar Disorder is a subset. Presumably you have the symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder but not the specific symptoms of Bipolar. Ask your psychiatrist but the phrase long-term basis probably means for the rest of your life. These disorders can't be cured (at least not yet) and don't go away. They can be treated though and that's the good news. Answered by Grillparzer - Fri Jul 10 10:05:32 2009 What pain medication would be prescribed to a 15 year old girl who just had an appendectomy? Q. And generally what would the instructions be for the medication? Like when would a doctor say to take the meds? Every few hours? Once a day? Just trying to figure out some details on what happens after an appendectomy! Asked by . - Thu Aug 27 09:43:08 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It depends on the surgeon's preferred pain medication, but it will probably be vicodin and it's usually taken 4-6 hours as needed for pain. But this is all a guess. I know you are trying to get a handle on what's going to happen in recovery, but your doctor will make the decision on pain medication at the time of discharge. Your doctor, his resident or nurse will go through in detail as to what the discharge orders are and they will send you home with paperwork with the orders and phone numbers to call in case you have questions.
