Persistant coughing of my Child Age 5 yrs?
Q. I have kid of 5 yrs old. He was suffering with coughing for last 8 months. He used to cough untill he vomits especially in evening. He was diagnosed with Bronchitis and allergy. We were giving him L Montus Kids (Monte Lucast - 4 mg + Levo cetrazine) for last 3 moths . He was fine. Later on around 1 month before we changed to Montanair tablets (having only Montelucast ). The change was made as per the prescription of the doctors to avoid excessive levo cetrazine. He was fine for last 1 months. But later on he caugth Viral Fever. During Viral fever, Doctors prescribed him Promethazine syrupalong with antibiotic and numesilid. Now we got receovered from Viral but have again got persistent coughing. Looking for opinions re: changing cat diet for feline IBS?
Q. Hi - I am trying to make the right decision for both of my cats and am looking for opinions. They have been limited to a "natural" cat food, chicken and rice - I started them in the dry form, which they have been used to. The dietary restriction is due to one of them having food allergies/ Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She can only eat very limited ingredients. She is under a vet's care.She had bloody diarrhea last week and was checked on Fri. (The vet is looking at the "bigger guns" of steroids for her, and I think all these meds take a toll, although they help to "quiet" the symptoms. What is considered a high dose of steroid?
Q. i have been prescribed Budesonide 200 micrograms, one inhalation twice a day, for 7 days What sort of dose is this considered? Am i likey to encounter any problems or ill effects? Thanks for any info.

A. There is no strict definition of what a 'high dose' is for steroid medications, but I can assure you that Budesonide 200mcg 2x/day is actually quite a conservative dose, on the low end. Medical professionals and patients generally worry about steroid side effects when using oral ingested medication. Inhaled steroids (eg. for asthma) have a long track record of being safe, particular at initial or low doses. The most common significant side effect from Budesonide inhaled would be throat irritation & oral thrush, but this occurs only with prolonged use, and I would not expect any problems with 1 week.
