Q. What's the therapeutic effect of consuming guava seeds extract?

A. Guava bark and leaves (and the fruit, to an extent) is supposed to be an antidiarrheal and vermifuge. The fruit is nourishing and a source of antioxidants like many other fruits. However, it is likely there is little real therapeutic effect from the seed extracts. DK

what is the therapeutic effect of hypotonic solution?
Q. which we administer to patients.you know, the dextrose.
Asked by chaw - Wed Aug 6 04:41:02 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Some of the reasons a patient may be prescribed an IV drip may be: to replace lost fluids, to maintain normal electrolyte balance, to provide an access route for IV meds, to gain veinous access to administer blood products, and to gain and maintain veinous access in the event the patient encounters an emergency situation (if the patient "crashes"). Hypertonic solutions raise serum levels, pull fluid from the cells, and directs it to the intervascular space. Best of Luck

A. That is so you can pay your money with no expectation of getting the therapeutic response you desire. While there may be no advantage for the user, there is certainly an advantage to the seller. You can get benefit --or not-- from the air you breathe, water you drink, every single thing you take into your body. Your best bet is to ask a pharmacist. While they may not always specialize in over the counter "cures," they can provide guidance and help answer your questions about the specific substance you are taking.

Because of the placebo effect should we not all be believing?
Q. It is known in the mental heath field that placebo has a therapeutic effect. I have seen figures up to 30% benefiting substantially from placebo. And what about belief in the healthing hand of God as a placebo? It can only do good healthwise. Do you want a placebo drug from God?
Asked by mic - Thu Aug 16 16:18:40 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The placebo effect does not change reality, only it changes the persons reported condition. The placebo effect has never shrunk a tumor for example, but it has lessened a headache.

Q. if you use a drugs generic name but it didn't take effect, and you want to try a drug with the same kind but using its brand name, will it be effective or the microorganisms is resistant to taht particular drug? anyway is brand name and generic name of drugs the same regarding its therapeutic effect? which is more effective?
Asked by karen - Sun May 31 07:53:32 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depends on the drug. Generics are almost exactly the same as brands in many cases, but in SOME you may react differently due to different delivery systems, buffers, etc. For example, I cannot take generic minocycline (acne medicine) because I developed ulcers and always got nauseous when I took them, but I had no problem with the branded formulations (which worked MUCH better as well) and as a plus, I could take it with milk (which you're not supposed to do with generic). And non-pill drugs -- for example, prescription lotions or creams for or scars, burns, or discoloration are often more effective as brands and have fewer side effects (they may go on better and not be sticky, not dry out the skin or cause peeling and redness or not smell… [cont.]

Discussion: What are the relevant social, ethical, legal and economic effects of therapeutic cloning?
Q. A technique has been developed, known as Therapeutic Cloning , in which an embryo is created to harvest stem cells, to be used, for example, to replace injured or faulty cells and restore the health of many people that are suffering from diseases that were once thought to be untreatable.

A. An embryo is a baby. I believe that is wrong. But I'm in a quandary, My first grandchild was born without a hand and she didn't have feet after countless surgeries, (around 30) the doctors built her feet from her own body, after circulation took (and it doesn't always) they moved bones in her body and built her feet. She is ten today and runs on her own feet what a miracle!!! But her hand they couldn't do anything about. Now I have seen that they a developing a type of cloning from your own body where you can re-grow a missing limb.they are years away on this research. But in good conscience if this was out now how could someone allow the doctors to cut off a limb so that you can regrow it.Especially a child. The pain alone would be… [cont.]

Isnt christianity just a PLACEBO effect?
Q. Placebo effect is the term applied by medical science to the therapeutic and healing effects of inert medicines and/or ritualistic or faith healing practices... When referring to medicines, placebo is a preparation which is pharmacologically inert but which may have a therapeutic effect based solely on the power of suggestion. It may be administered in any of the ways in which pharmaceutical products are administered... Isnt christianity based on the power of suggestion(The Bible)...? "The placebo effect is based in Christianity." LOL you answered it...So GOD is inert...LOL At which point I must ask, what's your problem with it? No problems...Just asking..Thank you.

I have always used that method for a long time and I love it.They are not expensive, and are easy to install. Most home improvement stores would have them.I think WAL- MART has them.

I have problem interacting with people. There is any hope for me?
Q. I feel like I am like other people. People are easy to control, yet so difficult to bond. I can understand fully the others but nobody can understand me. I never like people. I feel like I am something different. I understand that you think this sounds strange, and it is not an issue. I do not expect a reasonable answer either. I guess I am posting this in the hope that it will have a therapeutic effect for myself. Since I can not find equality, I would like to share my thoughts with you.

A. Yes, there is hope for you. I am not like other people either. Few are. Life is a challenge and it's our opportunity to take it up, and this challenge is to discover who lives in here. And you can do that by spending less time on looking at everyone else and start looking deep inside to the one that you are. The only path worth travelling in this lifetime is the path of self discovery. It'll take you most of your life to do, and every increment along the way is like finding a diamond. Your diamond. Then the next and the next. You're not here to control anyone. You're here to find out what you're good at, what you brought into life with you that is so amazing that no one else brought it in to this Earth plane. It's not important that… [cont.]

A. Honey bottled in the area where you live has been collected from the fauna in your area. It carries mild traces of the allergen causing parts of the fauna and will allow your body to build a tolerance to those allergens as you digest them.

Anyone using colloidal silver as a therapeutic treatment for UTI?
Q. I get urinary tract infections all the time and am tired of taking antibiotics all the time. A friend suggested taking colloidal silver. I have heard many good things but one of the side effects is turning blue but only if you take too much. Is this true? So i was just looking for some feed back from other people taking this product or know about it.
Asked by chutneyasparagus - Tue Sep 23 21:49:46 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I know a few people who have done that and told me it worked. I however have not needed to do it As far as the turning blue thing goes; that's basically propoganda from the medical establishment to protect their market. I think about 6 people total have had that happen to them, and all of them used a lot of it daily for years, and most important used a bad grade home made version (whereas with properly made CS the particles are too small to store in the skin). If you want to know anymore about the issue feel free to look it up.

Q. I ask because Even though I have been on it for more than a week, I really don't notice any difference yet. My doctor wants me to go up to 40mg; however, I read that too much Paxil is not good for you. I experience the following problems: 1. Social anxiety 2. General anxiety 3. Mild depression 4. Concentration problems Am I wasting my time with this stuff? Or, should I give it more time to have the desired effect?

A. Try it for at least a month, one week isn't a very long time. 20mg is the usual dose. I took Paxil for about 10 years; I have taken 20, 30 and 40 at different times. It's not that unusual to take 40mg.

Could "eugenol" be used as a therapeutic agent in asbestosis?
Q. "Eugenol" is a chemical found in an extract of cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon that polymerizes to asbestos fibers, neutralizing their toxicity. If administered via positive-pressure breathing apparatus or hyperbaric chamber therapy could it have a potential effect on people suffering from asbestosis?
Asked by Paul H - Sun Jan 14 07:24:19 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I doubt it as its the damage the asbestos causes to the cells which causes the asbestosis, not just the asbestos itself. So even if it were possible to remove the fibres the cells would still be severely damaged;

How many people think....?
Q. When you put yourself in a contest with another sign, you are not respecting yourself? I see this a lot. Although, there are personal improvements we all wish to achieve, when a person perpetuates a contest between signs, they are undermining themselves. Not everybody mixes with everybody, but it does not make the other person bad, and obviously it does not make the entire population of one sign bad. What do you think? How can we help a person realize their strengths without them comparing their sign to another? I do think expressing your views (getting it out), can have a therapeutic effect; however, to hold so tightly onto bad feelings is terrible for a person mentally and physically. What do you think? A. I'm like that. I don't believe in competition. I'm secure enough in my skin. I believe that the universe is with me and if I am a good stewart, I will be rewarded. I know some people do not share my belief, but to me there is no need for it. We all have skills that are valuable, and I do not believe in knocking anyone else down in rising to the top.
