Medicine is the art and science of healing. It encompasses a range of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.

Contemporary medicine applies health science, biomedical research, and medical technology to diagnose and treat injury and disease, typically through medication, surgery, or some other form of therapy. The word medicine is derived from the Latin ars medicina, meaning the art of healing.

Though medical technology and clinical expertise are pivotal to contemporary medicine, successful face-to-face relief of actual suffering continues to require the application of ordinary human feeling and compassion, known in English as bedside manner.

I have two different medical coverages through Humana and Aetna. Will both pay for my medical bills?
Q. I have two different medical coverages through Humana and Aetna. Will both companies pay for my medical bills? How are they going to pay for my bills? Will this create any problems to pay my medical bills?

A. First you will need to determine which is primary. But you really haven't given enough info in your question. If one is yours (say through an employer) and the other is your spouses (through her employer) then yours is primary for you and hers will be secondary. BUT if one is yours through an employer and one is an individual policy that you pay for, you will have to look at the individual policy to see if it coordinates with any other policy or if it pays you directly. For the most part, Humana will only cover services supplied by Humana providers, except in the case of an emergency.(Much like Kaiser). You don't say what type of policy the Aetna is-HMO-PPO? Whatever carrier has the better benefit for the service you recieve, you will… [cont.]

Is a doctor belonging to just one single medical group possibly better?
Q. We have been trying to short list a few Primary physicians (Internal medicine or Family practice) in our area. Some doctors belong to just one medical group where as other doctors belong to multiple medical groups. Can we make any assumptions based on this - example - the doctor belonging to multiple medical groups is possibly not getting enough patients in one medical group and hence needs to list himself in multiple medical groups. Similarly can we also assume the doctor belonging to just one medical group is able to sustain herself with enough patients in just that medical group and hence possibly slightly better?

A. I wouldn't assume so. getting many patients doesn't neccesarily mean that the doctor is good. I would highly suggest you go with the Internist, not the family medicine doctor

What medical field is the quickest to train for with decent pay?
Q. I am currently in college, but would like to take a different route and find a position in the medical field. I would appreciate any info on the amount of training, job description, salary, any personal experience etc. I'm sort of hoping for positions with training under a year.
