How do I free myself from using nasal spray?
Q. I use nasal spray every night before going to bed because of my severe allergies. If I don't use it, I wake up in the middle of the night congested and unable to breath. Now I'm starting to worry that perhaps the nasal spray is making my condition worse. Does anyone have success ending their dependency on nasal spray?

A. I suffer from sinusitius really bad! Firstly, the best thing to do if you haven't already is go and see an immunologist and find out exactly what you are allergic to. I for eg. am allergic to dust mites. So going outside will clear me up a bit after a while, avoiding dust as much as possible. I have tried every sort of medication, the nasal sprays don't work for me anymore! In some ways i have learnt to deal with it. On really bad days, I take a telfast with pseudoephidrine. Not good to take too often, it keeps you awake and makes you really chatty, but it clears me up instantly and is the best feeling! How much colloidal silver should I put in a nasal rinse solution to use in a neti pot or squeeze bottle?
Q. I already have a lot of information about the pros and cons of this therapy. Is there a knowledgeable person out there who can tell me how much Meso silver to put in a saline nasal irrigation? I would think maybe a drop or two...

A. Several silver companies sell colloidal silver to be sprayed directly into the nose or on a burn. There is no need to dilute it. If I were going to use it in my nose, I'd use the netti pot first, get rid of excess water, then use the silver "neat," one or two drops in each nostril. Putting it in the irrigation solution will help sterilize the water, but otherwise is pretty ineffective, I think. I've used 500 ppm silver "neat" in my eyes to heal a stye and in my cat's eyes when he had bad allergies. Also have sniffed it into my sinuses for infection.

How much will nasal passage surgery cost for my persian cat?
Q. I went to the vet today and he said that eventually my Persian would have difficulty breathing and that she would need nasal passage surgery to fix issues. Right now my cat is 4 years (human) old and she is doing fine. Sometimes I can hear high pitched breathing noises but she is ok. I am just wondering how much it would cost to have the surgery and when I may have to get it. Does anyone have experience with this?

A. Now one here can tell you how much it will cost because it will, of course, vary depending on where you are located, what vet does the surgery, and exactly what the surgery entails. The only way to find out is to ask your vet. If you want additional price quotes, ask for a full copy of all of your cat's records, and any x-rays or ultrasound exams, and take them to different vets and ask them for a price for the surgery. Have your vet put a note in the records giving the details of the surgery he or she thinks will be required so that the other vets can use that to give you a preliminary price quote.
